Sometimes, nothing feels better than knowing you’re right. That you made the correct choice when deciding which path to take…
A few years ago, I touched on what I feel is going to be one of the big industries of the future – robotics – and how it’s been growing more in the past few years than it has since its inception back in the 1960s.
Well, a recent story on Drudge reported proves that I was on the right track…
Researchers at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Zurich and their 15 different project partners and over 40 engineers and scientists are constructing a tendon-driven robot modeled on human beings, the project is known as Roboy.
Roboy’s advancement in “soft robotics” will have this humanoid machine moving “almost as elegantly as a human,” making this “service robot” the most advanced of its kind.
You can check out the full article and a video showing how the tendon-drive works by going HERE.
I can’t tell yet if I’m amazed or a little creeped out at the possibilities of this kind of technology…
And to be honest, I didn’t think we were this close to achieving this kind of milestone.
I thought we were at least 2-3 years away from hitting mark on smooth, human movement in robotics, so this wasn’t a conversation I was prepared to start or planning to have till we got closer to the point of being able to profit, but here we are…
The thing is, I don’t mind miscalculating the timeline, as it just means that the robotics industry’s explosion into a cash-generating industry is more imminent than I had thought.
But, again, here we are – ahead of the schedule – ahead of the game and ready to profit!
However, Roboy is JUST the beginning…
